It’s time for another writing update.
I just recently put the finishing touches on my Creature Cats book, and now it’s ready to go along with my Nightmares & Twisted Thoughts horror short story collection. You can subscribe to my mailing list to be the first to know when they get released (use the book title links to get there).
I also wrapped up the first draft of book 3 of my witch series, and those three will be polished and ready to go by January.
I ran into some major writing struggles with book 3. It’s like my flame went out less than halfway through the book, and it became a struggle to write. I try to write 5 pages a day in the summer months, and with this book it slowed down to 1 or 2 pages a day. It was really frustrating. I felt like the book might not get done.
So what did I do? I had the whole book outlined already, so I picked up the narrative at a later plot point in the book, and that got my writing back up to par for the most part, at least just enough to finish the book. I’m currently proofreading books 2 and 3 and taking a break from doing any writing.
I also discovered a new cover designer that I’m working with. This is the new cover with A Whiskered Perspective, my domestic thriller:
Along the way writing these books and wrapping up storylines I’ve had a pretty awesome summer. I’m ready for the semester to pick back up in the fall and am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I have enjoyed teaching online though. I got to adapt and pivot like crazy getting it all up and running, and realized my inventing chops aren’t rusty: I have mad problem-solving skills.
In the end, perseverance got me through this pandemic, allowing me to overcome obstacles that came my way. I’m a better person for it and can’t wait to see what’s coming. Know that you’re not done either, and with one step in front of the other you can get from point A to point B.
Keep going, dear readers.
