Something else that relaxes me is being physically active, whether running, hiking, or working in the yard. My husband went crazy last year and got all these fruit trees, and it took us a while to get them all planted, and then we had to mulch (I hate mulching!).
It might be pertinent to mention here that I can’t grow anything—I even kill cacti. My thing is cats.
The point is, I love to help out (except with the mulching), and be busy. I also try to keep up with running, even though I am not consistent with it. I tend to run/hike more in the summer months because A) I have the time, and B) I loooove the heat. I am cold most of the time, and even sit under an electric blanket most evenings. Can any of you relate?
Of course, sitting on the couch doing nothing is also relaxing. A helping of a favorite snack can also be relaxing. There have been days where my husband and I have done nothing except watch television for most of the day.
It’s important to take time to relax. Burnout is a real thing, and balance is always needed. There will always be times when things don’t work out, and perspective is needed. Down times are perfect for that, for not punishing yourself for mistakes, and facing the future with more hope.
